The North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF) has raised a petition against open pen salmon farming in Icelandic waters. If you click this link it will take you to the NASF website page which provides more background information: Show Support | NASF – North Atlantic Salmon Fund please take the time to put your name to the petition. By supporting this it will raise the profile of the damage being done to wild fish stocks due to pollution from these open pen salmon farms. Whilst this is for Iceland the same issues apply to salmon farming in Scottish and Irish waters, there is overwhelming evidence of harm going back to the 1970’s when the first salmon farm became operational in Loch Ewe and destroyed the sea trout runs into Loch Maree due to sea lice infestation. Open pen salmon farming is not environmentally friendly!
