River Dee – Bryn-y-Pys Beat 3

This beat on the Bryn-y-Pys water comprises of three pools and goes from Overton Bridge to Pigeon Cote Pool.  Salmon fishers can fish anywhere, trout fishermen cannot fish salmon pools with marker posts.

Garreg Pool – From the Cross Foxes Pub at Overton Bridge (A539) travel towards Overton. After 50 m turn left into Asney Lane and continue to the bungalow on the right. Park on the grass verge opposite the bungalow. Go through the old black Iron Gate and walk down to the river.

Rogers Hole – From the Cross Foxes Pub at Overton Bridge (A539) travel towards Wrexham. Go past the turning to Ruabon and shortly afterwards there is a large wooden field gate on the right hand side. You can either park on the verge by the gate and walk down the gully to the river or you can drive to the top of the gully, it is not recommended that you drive down the gully even in a 4×4.  The lock code for the gate is 1954 . The pool can be found downstream of the wire fence.

Dullah House – From the Cross Foxes Pub at Overton Bridge (A539) travel towards Wrexham. Continue for a mile and the track to Dullah House is situated on the right hand side of the road. It is opposite the Manor Farm (timbered farmhouse) drive. Park at the very end of the track and walk through the wicket gate on the right and along the edge of the field until you reach the river.

Pigeon Cote – From the Eyton Lane cross roads turn right down the lane marked “no through road”.. Continue for a quarter of a mile and park on the right hand verge by the entrance to Eyton Hall Farm. Walk around the edge of the paddock to the right of the traditional farm building until you reach the river.

Water information

This beat is better in low water but fish have been caught up to 0.8m. Seatrout can be caught on these beats and the wading conditions are good. NB. Night fishing is prohibited.
