River Dee – Bryn-y-Pys: Beat 2

This beat goes downstream from Erbistock Weir (no fishing within 50m of the weir) to Overton Bridge.  It fishes well in all water conditions.  Erbistock Mill is used as a holiday house and the holiday makers have been informed that the fishing is private.

How to get there: OS map reference – SJ 354 422

Take the Erbistock Road from the Cross Foxes Pub at the Overton Bridge (A539). The turning to Erbistock Mill is the second on the left. (At the entrance there is a sign stating it is private property.) Continue down the stone track to Erbistock Mill and either park on the river bank or in front of the Mill. For those wishing to park on the river bank please keep the gate by the stone wall shut at all times.

How to get to the water

The Causeway Pool is by the car park and you can walk along the bank to Overton Bridge.

Water information

The upper half of the beat is ideal for fly fishing whereas the lower half is only suitable for spinning. The majority of the fish are taken from the middle to the top of the beat.

Fishing is prohibited within 50 m of the weir (a tree is marked with white paint on the opposite bank) and in front of the Cross Foxes Pub.

NB. Night fishing is prohibited.
