A work party took place on Friday 25 June to remove trees from the ‘Slips’ which had fallen into the river. We worked with the Newbridge Trout syndicate (NTS) who fish the opposite bank. The NTS boys used a small inflatable boat to cross the river and cut the branches free as some were still attached to their root ball Most of the trees are now free but there is still a lot of brash stuck on the ‘Bubble’. We had to use Alwyn Cartwright’s car as it had a tow hitch to pull some of the debris across the river but due to time limitations this is still on the bank as by 19:00 we were too tired to cut it up! A second work party will be organized to remove the rest of the debris if the river has not taken it away.
The banks have also been strimmed so we are nearly ready for the fish to arrive which hopefully they will do anytime soon!
