Glan y Wern Open Day

Many thanks to those who contributed to making the Club Open Day a success on Sunday 10 July. A big thank you to Daniel Williams of the Angling Trust for his casting and patient tuition, Chris White for his excellent burgers and sausages, Alwyn Cartwright for supplying the sausages and providing a fly tying demo and Glyn Williams for revealing the entomology of the lake, there is a short video of what we found below. Note how the damsel nymph in the bottom left is swimming – this is why a marabou tail on a fly works!. Also thanks to all those who had prepared the banks and lake for the day. Despite the hot weather, two fish were caught. One by guest Yvonne Macdonald and the other was assisted by young Ted (also a guest). It was an event enjoyed by all with a big thanks to Ian Macdonald for liaising with Daniel to organise the event. Below are some photographs of the day:
