Glan Y Wern Open Day 2024

The club held its open day at Glan y Wern on Saturday 15 June 24 members, family and friends attended despite the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Instruction in the art of fly fishing was undertaken by Danny Williams, an instructor from the Angling Trust who got children and adults casting a nice straight fly line. Fortunately the forecast heavy rain held off and we only had short showers although the day was cut short by a thunderstorm which fortunately missed the lake and several stayed on to fish once the storm had passed. Everyone enjoyed the day with most novices catching their first fish on a fly.

A big thank you to Ian MacDonald for arranging the instruction, Chris White who looked after the barbeque, Alwyn Cartwright who supplied the fried onions and John Evans who made sure the lake and banks were in good order. Below are a few photographs of the group.
